We commenced using Key Play earlier this year for our tourism business. At that stage we were at our wits end with an unresponsive accountant charging us exorbitant fees and not delivering on promises. After researching N.I.A. accountants we came across Key Play Business Solutions and interviewed Key Play principal Jamie Johns. We were immediately impressed by Jamie’s attitude and haven’t looked back since. In the short time we have been using Key Play we have found Jamie to be exceptional in terms of his responsiveness to all forms of communication; his friendliness and willingness to devote time and energy to our business; and in his ability to think through solutions and strategies that will help our business grow. It now truly feels that Jamie and the team at Key Play are part of our business team.

Strategically the most impressive work Jamie has done for us has been the preparation of a trip costings workbook. We offer guided walking tours throughout Australia and pricing these can always be a challenge, in fact getting the price right is arguably the hardest aspect of the business. The detailed yet easy to use workbook Jamie constructed enables us to factor in all the variables, including commissions (for which we pay anywhere from 5% to 30% to enable our product to be booked overseas through travel agents, wholesalers and inbound tour operators), accommodation, wages, direct costs, overhead allocations, etc as well as factor in any net profit margin to enable accurate cost projections. This allows accurate profit and loss figures to be calculated and projected on an ongoing basis as we take in bookings and has enabled us to submit a successful business plan for marketing funding under the South Australian Tourist Commission’s New Product Support Program. Under our previous accountant we were never able to prepare such detailed and accurate pricing and our new custom designed template enables us to budget existing and future products with confidence.
